110 Seniors Honored at Hendrix Banquet

CONWAY, Ark. – The Hendrix College Athletic Department handed out the yearly senior awards Friday at the Sixth Annual Senior Athletic Banquet. Track & field and volleyball athlete Victoria Amadi was named the NCAA Woman of the Year and football player Gray Stanton was named Hendrix College Man of the Year. Field hockey and women's lacrosse player Gabryele Pochron, volleyball player MC Rogers and football player Dayton Winn won the Carl Babcock Award. Women's tennis player Pratheepa Ravikumar and men's golfer Kevin Austrian were awarded the Bob Courtway Leadership Award. Volleyball player Allison Gaia and track & field and football athlete Jared Lincoln were the recipients of the inaugural Coach G Spirit Award, named after legendary coach and athletic director Cliff Garrison.

Amadi, from Denton, Texas, was a four-time NCAA All-American in the triple jump. She also won the triple jump all four years at the Southern Athletic Association, earning All-SAA First Team honors. Amadi was a two-time USTFCCCA All-Region selection and three-time SAA Field Athlete of the Week. She was also apart of two conference champion volleyball teams and helped the Warriors to NCAA semifinals appearance in 2015. Amadi owns five school records in track. She served as a Arkansas Children's Hopsital volunteer, camp counselor, a member of the Hendrix Diversity Concerns Committee and was the founder and president of the Hendrix Neuroscience Club. Amadi will graduate with a degree in Neuroscience and minor in Psychology with a 3.19 grade point average. She was also a three-time SAA Academic Honor Roll selection.

Stanton, from Fort Smith, Ark., was a 2016 All-SAA First Team selection and 2015 Honorable Mention at defensive end. He recorded 140 career tackles, 30.5 for a loss and 10 sacks in 30 games. He was the program career leader in tackles for loss and second in sacks. Stanton was a three-time SAA Academic Honor Roll selection, 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District pick and inducted into the National Football Foundation/Hampshire Honor Society. He served as a HOBY Youth Leadership Ambassador and presented researched at the American Chemical Society Conference in San Francisco. Stanton is a licensed pharmacy technician and chemistry lab assistant. He went on a mission trip to the Czech Republic to teach American football and was the co-founder and vice president of the Hendrix fishing team. Stanton will graduate with a degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology.

Pochron, from Reading, Pa., was a four-time All-SAA First Team selection as a goalkeeper in field hockey. She was a four-time NFHCA All-Region Second Team selection and ranked fourth in NCAA Division III history with 1,031 career saves. Pochron was the 2013 SAA Newcomer of the Year and made the NFHCA DIII National Academic Squad the same year. She played in the NFHCA DIII Senior Game as well. In Women's lacrosse, Pochron was a First Team all-conference selection in 2017 and Second Team in 2016. She was a four-time SAA Defensive Player of the Week. Pochron is the Warriors' career leader in caused turnovers and ground balls. She made the SAA Academic Honor Roll five times and will graduate with degrees in Biology and Psychology.

Rogers, from Collierville, Tenn., was a two-time AVCA All-America Honorable Mention and three-time All-SAA First Team selection. She was named the 2013 SAA Newcomer of the Year and made the all-conference Second Team as a freshman. Rogers was also a three-time AVCA All-South selection and thee-time SAA Player of the Week. She made the 2015 NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team during the Warriors' semifinals run in the National Tournament. Rogers helped Hendrix to three SAA championships and three trips to NCAA Tournament. A four-time SAA Academic Honor Roll selection, Rogers graduated in December with a degree in Spanish and minor in English. She went on to play beach volleyball for the NCAA Division I member Central Arkansas.

Winn, from Pea Ridge, Ark., was a two-time AFCA All-America First Team running back. He was also a 2016 D3football.com All-America First Teamer and a two-time member of the AP Little All-America teams. He won the SAA Offensive Player of the Year in 2015 and 2016 and was an all-conference First Team selection all four years. Winn was a semifinalist for the Gagliardi Trophy in 2015 and 2016 and participated in the 2017 Drew Bowl. He recorded 5,009 yards rushing with 85 touchdowns, another 1,221 yards and 10 touchdowns receiving and finished with 8,296 all-purpose yards for his career. Winn will graduated with a degree in Kinesiology.

Ravikumar, from Rogers, Ark., was a three-time SAA All-Sportsmanship Team selection as well as a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete and SAA Academic Honor Roll member. She earned conference Player of the Week once and was selected to the 2015 SAA All-Tournament Team. Ravikumar compiled 57 total wins and served as team captain for three years. She was a campus resident, research and lab assistant and a part of the Volunteer Action Committee, Camp Aldersgate counselor, hospital volunteer and went on a mission trip with the Miller Center. Ravikumar was involved with 26 different clubs, committees and activities at Hendrix. She will graduate with a degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology.

Austrian, from Austin, Texas, is the Hendrix school record holder with a low round of 69. He placed third at the 2016 SAA Championships to earn First Team all-conference honors. He was selected to the 2014 SAA Academic Honor Roll and served as team captain for two years. Austrian was a member of Phi Theta Alpha and a the treasurer of the Committee on Gender and Sexuality. He will graduate with a degree in History and attend the Marine Corps Officer Candidate School.

Gaia, from Germantown, Tenn., was a 2016 All-SAA Second Team selection and an Honorable Mention twice. She was a four-time SAA Academic Honor Roll member and was the setter for the Warrior teams that won three consecutive conference titles and made the NCAA Tournament three times. A two-year team captain, Gaia recorded 2,760 career assists, 83 service aces and 974 digs. She will graduate with a degree in Health Sciences.

Lincoln, from Atlanta, Texas, was a four-time SAA champion in the discus, earning First Team all-conference honors all four years. He broke the school record with a discus throw of 48.87 meters (160 ft.-4.25 in.) and is on pace to qualify for the 2017 NCAA National Championships. He made All-Region in 2016 and was a two-time SAA Field Athlete of the Week. In football, Lincoln was a two-time All-SAA Honorable Mention and made the D3football.com National Team of the Week as an offensive lineman. He helped the Warriors to a 2015 conference title and was on the line that led Hendrix to a national statistic champion with 600 yards of total offense per game. Lincoln will graduate with a degree in Accounting.

The 2017 Senior Banquet also saw the second installation of the Sigma Alpha Alpha Society, sponsored by the SAA. The Society recognizes any student-athlete who maintained a 3.5 cumulative GPA and was named all-conference first or second team during their career. Six Warriors were inducted - Gaia, Shaquille Grant from men's track & field, Victoria Hughes from softball, Julia Lefler from women's tennis, Rogers and Stephen Stearman from men's track & field.
